I think you have to compare these results with those of 2012, though. Richer folks have always been more Republican. In which income bracket(s) was the growth?
Actually, those little teeny numbers on the right indicate that. There was tremendous growth in Republican votes in the bottom two income brackets. And an increase in Democratic voters in the brackets above.
The point is this entire election cycle the media and the Trump campaign have put out the narrative that his supporters were angry because they were poor and forgotten and their jobs had been stolen from them in one form or another. That their anger was coming from a place of financial instability instead of pure racism. The actual raw numbers put the lie to that. The majority of white people who voted for him are actually doing JUST FINE. That’s the point. To correct the narrative. Trump voters? By and large have nothing to complain about financially.
