Aeschynanthus ‘Thai Pink’ is in the African violet family Gesneriaceae. Native to Southeast Asia, it is an epiphytic vine that grows on trees and shrubs in the dense jungle understory. The pink tubular flowers attract various species of birds for pollination. This variety is very popular and is cultivated as an indoor ornamental best suited for hanging baskets to accentuate its trailing nature. Thai Pink grows best in partial shade and in well-watered soils with good drainage.
