I had a friend at school whose name was Niamh (also a Gaelic name). I was so happy to know her at first. Then she spelt her name out. You pronounce it NEEV. Neev! Imagine my surprise and total intolerance when I saw it had a fucking M in it. I did a pissed off little kid face at her. Good and proper. Like why. Why are you doing this to me. M. Then the H! Ugh. Such betrayal and heartbreak.
