Clean Safe Water for Flint Michigan is needed immediately. Children have lead poisoning & infrastructure is contaminated | We the People: Your Voice in Our Government

petitions.whitehouse.gov
Flint Michigan residents need CLEAN SAFE WATER NOW! Levels of lead are so high that children have lead poisoning. It is unsafe for anyone to drink.

whining-and-wine:

I’m not really sure if this is useful or not, but someone at a national level has to pay attention to Flint right now.  Flint was absolutely decimated by the loss of the auto industry. They have had two financial emergencies in the last 10 years and they are in desperate need of help right now with the water crisis they are currently facing.

An appointed financial manager switched from buying water from Detroit to using water from the Holloway Resevoir & the Flint River due to the rising cost of Detroit water. The water from the Flint River is much more corrosive and it is causing lead from the pipes to leach into the water supply.

Per the EPA Guidelines, the limit for lead levels is 15 parts per billion. At one elementary school in Flint, water tests found lead levels of 101 ppb. In addition, there are months of data showing elevated lead levels in homes across Flint and a higher percentage of children with elevated blood-lead levels. (x)

Lead poisoning is irreversible and causes behavioral and developmental problems in children. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say there is no acceptable level of lead exposure.

People are finally starting to pay attention to this issue but this has been ongoing for the last 16 months.  Please sign the petition and reblog it so we can hopefully get some federal assistance/intervention in this matter.

Because this infrastructure has to get fixed. Before more harm is done. This is a no-brainer to sign.
