It baffles me how badly tumblr misunderstands politics sometimes.
Like, you know the thing that just came out about trump beating every democratic candidate?
First: That is a POLL, not a vote. This is not official, this is not the real election. Trump is not “winning”. It’s just a survey.
Second: And this is the IMPORTANT PART, you know how many people participated in this survey?

this is .03% of the US population
This is what is called a sample size. It can be extrapolated to give an estimate of what would occur throughout the entire population, but is honestly, probably WILDLY INACCURATE. The surveys are random, so they have no way to guarantee correct sampling proportions of race, gender, political belief, etc. For all we know they could have accidentally called 950 white male republicans, 25 black female democrats, 5% pleasure, 50% pain and 100% reason to disregard these things entirely.
I’m not saying that we shouldn’t continue to fight to get Bernie in office, but like, ya’ll need to stop seeing these things and thinking the world is ending. You know who the sure thing candidate was in these polls was 8 years ago?
