Imagine Tony developing a bracelet for Clint to wear that converts their com chatter to Morse code in the event that something happens to Clint’s hearing aids. Or so that Clint can disable his hearing aids in order to focus on a target without leaving himself without a warning system if something comes up behind him.

Imagine Thor learning Sign with enthusiasm, his large hands surprisingly nimble when it comes to communication. He uses his new found skill to quietly make a running commentary on movies that they watch. Half of the time the team ends up watching Thor instead of the movie.

Imagine Steve, remembering his own struggles as a young man making a conscious effort to ensure that Clint doesn’t feel out of place about his disability. He watches everything with subtitles and captions until it becomes a habit for everyone.

Imagine Natasha going to great pains to teach everyone how to speak clearly and consistently so that their lips can be read with ease. She takes extra time to make sure that they know a few key phrases in Russian to keep Clint entertained. No one knows that they’re jokes except for Clint and Natasha.

Imagine Bruce making changes to Clint’s hearing aids so that the sound coming through them is as natural as possible after Clint complains one day that things are unnecessary tinny and lacking depth. Bruce doesn’t even know that much about hearing aids but he learns all that he can in no time at all because it means improving his friend’s life.

Just imagine the Avengers openly accepting their friend’s disability and doing their level best to make him comfortable and welcome in their ranks.
