• Using functioning labels, especially if an Autistic person has asked you not to
• Using person first language (person with autism rather than autistic person), especially if an Autistic person has asked you not to
• Getting all of your information from non-autistic sources
• Trying to eliminate Autistic behaviour
• Making Autistic people earn accommodations
• Trying to force verbal communication
• Arguing with Autistic people about autism related issues
• Trying to tell Autistic people what is and isn’t ableist
• Being ableist

• Talking to actual Autistic people
• Finding a mixture of information from professionals and Autistic people
• Opposing a cure
• Boosting the voices of Autistic people
• Accepting and encouraging Autistic behaviour
• Asking Autistic people about their own needs
• Promoting acceptance as well as awareness
• Using Autistic people as the only source of information in regards to the preferences of the Autistic community
• Learning about how to help Autistic people during meltdowns or other stressful times
• Treating Autistic people like people
• Understanding that you are more likely to be taken seriously than an Autistic person
• Using that power to help Autistic people be taken seriously
