like antivaxxers aren’t a hilarious apolitical group of ~silly womens~

they’re a massive ableist, and especially anti-Autistic, movement that are causing serious harm, which various corporations are funding and subsequently profiting off of

Richmond, California. Police Chief Magnus: Why I Joined a Protest Against Police Brutality.

The police and the community share a common goal. We want peaceful protests to be something that people feel comfortable participating in and to understand that the police are guardians, because we should be protecting people’s constitutional rights.

But we also want to send a message that we care about everyone in the community. This needs to be a partnership between police and persons of color, black, brown, whatever. We need to be working together.

This is what I like to see - police officers that are actually woke and support Black Lives Matter movement. This also goes to show that it’s not that hard to be a good person and a good cop. Unfortunately a lot of his colleagues don’t share the same way of thinking with him and not only do they embarrass themselves, they make us think that there are no decent officers left who actually will to protect people and not abuse them. Keep it up, police. #We need to be working together!

what would you think of a woman who addressed a club meeting of men by telling them how charming, how well gowned, how pretty, they were?

This is why I really like books that are set in oldey times with people who have views like this, and why it annoys me when people say but that’s not historically accurate

tbh, half the time ‘not historically accurate’ is code for ‘i wish things were still like my imaginary version of 19th century England only minus the cholera’

This just makes me absurdly happy, especially because it’s written by a man calling out other men for this shit.

“But they didn’t know better” you sure about that?

dude was so mad about this he was snarking in all caps

if your stomach’s sensitive because of anxiety, by all means spread out the food you eat over the course of the day instead of having large meals, just don’t…not eat.  you will go into hypoglycemic shock and that will suck.

By the way, symptoms include:

  • Shakiness.
  • Nervousness or anxiety.
  • Sweating, chills and clamminess.
  • Irritability or impatience.
  • Confusion, including delirium.
  • Rapid/fast heartbeat.
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness.
  • Hunger and nausea.

(because of the nausea, eating might not feel like the thing to do at first.  I’d suggest drinking a coke or something.)

I’ve dealt with sugar crashes before and I’ve collapsed and whited out.  I’ve had friends do it too.  If you think you’re going into hypoglycemic shock, and if there’s anyone else near by, tell them you think it’s happening, even if you’re not prone or it’s never happened before.  If your’e alone, make your way slowly to the kitchen/wherever you have food/drinks.  The standard rule is to take in 15 oz of a sugary drink (orange juice and soda–not diet–are the best) and wait 15 minutes to see if it’s over, then keep doing that until your sugar is stabilized.  Then you can eat.  If you think you’re about to collapse, especially if you start to feel dizzy, sit down and lay down or lean against something.  Don’t risk injury, it’s better to pass out while you’re laying down than it is to collapse and hurt yourself.

If you are having trouble eating please keep in mind the BRATY diet.  Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce, Toast, and (sometimes) Yogurt. These foods have been shown to be harder to throw up. By no means should this be the primary diet, but this can assist in the between times when it’s harder to keep things down.

this was really helpful

As someone who has a super nervous stomach this is super useful!!

In case you don’t know, it’s completely normal to feel nauseated when you have anxiety, because there are SO MANY nerves in your gut. Your body doesn’t want anything heavy or hard to digest when your stomach is all clenched up with fear, so don’t try to force yourself to eat anything that doesn’t go down well. But you do need to eat, even if it’s something small.

Cooked and lightly buttered potatoes work for me, as they’re bland and the starch will soak up some stomach acid. Ginger is helpful for nausea, and peppermint may be especially helpful because it’s an anti-spasmodic, it soothes the cramping of your stomach. You can drink peppermint tea, add some peppermint extract to your water, or just suck on some mints.

If you are truly finding it difficult to eat, keep food down, or you’re often nauseated after eating, please go see a doctor because it may be more than anxiety.
