NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly returns to Earth Tuesday night after spending almost a year in space.
But his 340 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS) haven’t been all fun and games.
Our bodies evolved on Earth, so they’re not built for weightlessness — which is exactly why NASA plans to use Kelly to study the long-term effects of spaceflight the human body.
I’m interested to see what the Scott Kelly “Twin Study” looks like: while Scott spent 340 days in space, his identical twin brother Mark spent that same time on Earth so NASA is going to study the two for differences.
what writers need to understand is that if you are going to use elements from cultures you aren’t a part of you need to fucking do your research. you need to spend hours reading and talking to people from the cultures and making sure that everything is as accurate and non offensive as possible. you can’t just skin a wikipedia article and expect everything to be okay or be shocked when people get upset. I know i would love to see certain pieces of my varying cultures in tv shows/movies/books/etc but it needs to be done the right way or else it just becomes another piece of racist, stereotype driven piece of shit.
also side note this isn’t directed at just white people literally any poc who decide to borrow pieces from another culture that they aren’t a part of are capable of being disrespectful. we all need to check ourselves and make sure we are being accurate.
Also – this will be the first time he’ll march in Toronto’s pride parade as the Prime Minister.
