Medicine should never have been privatized in the first place. The concept of profiting off of human desperation and the need for life-saving medicine is, philosophically, intrinsically, and morally wrong both as a fundamental concept and in practice. The fact that Martin Shkreli was ever able to buy an AIDS drug and increase its price 5000% is indicative of a problem even bigger than a truly evil, despicable, and selfish human being; it is indicative of the problem of the current system of for-profit pharmaceuticals with obviously inadequate price regulation.
Notes To Self
Dear Self,
- It is okay.
- It is okay to go to sleep when you are tired, even if other people aren’t yet.
- It is okay to sleep as many hours as you need, rather than as few as you can survive on.
- It is okay to eat when you are hungry, even if other people aren’t yet.
- It is okay to eat food you actually like, and you don’t always have to share it.
- It is okay to put the heating on if you are cold. Or wear more clothes.
- It is okay to use enough hot water for baths to be actually warm.
- It is okay to stop talking if you run out of spoons.
- It is okay to play the albums you want to hear rather than only the ones you know the people around you like.
- It is okay to say “no” to people.
- It is okay to say “no” to people even when the question was “are you okay?”
- It is okay to have free time.
- It is okay to switch your phone off sometimes.
- It is okay to change your mind.
- It is okay to stop liking things. Or start.
- It is okay to not keep things you don’t want.
- It is okay to keep things you do want.
- It is okay to ask for help with your problems. Yes, even when your friends have problems too.
- It is okay to pray if you need/want to. Even if people are looking.
- It is okay to make mistakes.
- It is okay to take up space in the world.
- It is okay to expect and ask for fair and humane treatment from others.
- It is okay that you exist.
Love,
Me.I needed to hear this. And remember this
Um, this is a great post and all. But are we not going to question “It is okay to stop talking if you run out of spoons.”?
#How are you using up spoons?#Why do you need spoons to talk?
Oops, sorry! When I made this post I didn’t expect it to get anything like the readership it has, and as far as I knew most of my friends/followers are already familiar with spoon theory. In my case my difficulties are mental not physical, but it’s the same basic idea - after a certain point I just don’t have anything left to think with some days, and “spoons” works to explain that too.
And while I’m here - this post has just gone over 4k notes, making it far and away the most popular thing I’ve ever posted. I’m both really happy that it’s apparently helped so many people and really sad that so many people needed it! Love to all of you, take care of yourselves. <3
I think one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in life is that my sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with many factors of who I am, while also being an essential part of me
Just because two people aren’t romantically involved doesn’t mean they can’t be super important to one another.
Just because two people are super important to one another doesn’t mean they have to be romantically involved.
It is okay to love people deeply without wanting to be with them romantically and people should not make your friendship uncomfortable by consistently nagging you to date.
Let’s appreciate and support friendships and stop demanding people to have feelings they don’t have.

“Ubiquitous in abandoned libraries, Dewey weed grows best in old books. Its flowers bloom only to mourn the deaths of exquisite characters.”

@arahirWe had some fog so at 3:30 am Ani and I headed out for a little practice with photos at night. Let’s just say Ani is in her element and the lack of sleep was well worth the fun.
