Breast cancer check suggestions always confuse me “check for any lumps” now “check for any dimples”.
Like, my tits seem to be made exclusively of lumps and dimples so the fuck am I meant to do??
SAME I’m in a constant state of anxiety regarding my boobs because they’re not “ideal” and therefor a lot of the most common self-check conditions are my norm.
The main thing is to know your boobs, I guess. If anything is off - if you notice new lumps, or dimples, or unusual tenderness or rashes or discharge etc etc - that’s the main thing. And doing regular self-checks gets you super familiar with your own body, so it’s easier to notice when/if something unusual happens.
Regular doctor visits and annual exams are good, too. For folks who can do that, of course.
Boob lumps are normal, self-check is to get to know your boobage so that if you do get an abnormality, you’ll hopefully notices. A lot of lumps are either fatty tissue deposits or parts of milk glands called lobules and you should get to know how they feel in your boob.
The most common places for breast cancer are the tail of the breast and the armpit, then behind the nipple.
It’s changes to the boob that you need to worry about:
Lumps that feel hard like a pebble and do not hurt or feel tender when you squish them.
Dimpling that looks like orange peel.
Sudden change in size in one or both breasts, unrelated to menstrual cycle
Discharge, esp. if it’s bloody, from either or both nipples.
Nipple rash
Sudden nipple inversion
Not all breast lumps/abnormalities are cancerous, but you should always get them checked out by a doctor anyway.
Several years back I began to receive the scam emails from Nigeria. I’m sure you are familiar with these so I won’t go into a great explanation. Normally, I can just ignore them, but these were coming to an email pertaining to a domain that I owned for my computer repair business.
It started with a few, and then grew to about 20 per day - every single day. It was irritating to get an email notification only to find out that it was one of these BS emails.
I thought…what to do, what to do…then I had an idea.
I went to Angelfire and created a free website with nothing more than a counter on it.
I shelled out to a command prompt and wrote a batch file that when executed erased boot.ini, nrldr, ntdetect.com then launched a browser which loaded the website I had created (I put a pause in it, silently recursing the windows directory just to make sure their PC made it to the website) then it would shut down the PC.
For those of you not in the ‘know’, this will prevent a computer from booting, stopping at a black screen displaying an error message. A good tech could have it back up and going with not much issue, but I was betting against that - after all, this is Nigeria.
I packaged the file into a password protected zip file and emailed it back to a few scammers stating that ‘This was given to me by the bank, and contains my banking and credit card information. It is set to give a false virus warning to stop scammers, the password for the first file is <password>. Please do not steal my information, I trust you’.
Within 2 days, the counter on my website had went from 3 (where I tested it) to over 140.
I have YET to receive another email from scammers at this email address.
From what I understand, they hack each others email in hopes of stealing ‘victims’ from each other. I hope that the down-time I forced upon them was enough to allow for at least a few people to be educated about this scam.
“The Pencilsword” is a comic strip by Toby Morris, an illustrator from New Zealand. His most recent comic, “On a Plate” hits hard at the heart of the issues of concerning wealth and privilege.
How many times have you heard the “I’ve never been handed anything on a platter” argument in regard to social security and other social benefits?
Toby wrecks this argument by showing how two children can grow up, be loved and supported, and yet still have two very different outcomes.
Make sure to follow all the way to the end for the powerful punchline. This comic is an increasingly sad reality for far too many of this nation’s children and families.
Reblogged from the source since someone deleted the text at the bottom.
yeah, at least it’s what we think, since women were the ones who started brewing shit. the goddess of brewery and beer is, well, a goddess and not a god, which is probably because women were the ones starting it historically.
FINE I’ll just do your homework for you. Trust me, it’s not just “what we think”, we have ample evidence and it’s pretty much unanimously agreed upon among brewers that women were traditionally the ones brewing and often drinking the beer. So long long story short: yes, brewing was very much a women’s craft in the majority of cultures worldwide pre-industrialisation. A couple of popular brewing textbooks state:
“Initially, brewing was carried out as home brewing by women for domestic use only. It was part of the daily housework next to cooking and baking bread.” (Handbook of Brewing, Priest and Stewart, 2006)
“Traditionally, [African] beers are made by women brewsters, as was the case medieval Europe, and they may be consumed with some ceremony.” (Brewing, Briggs, Brookes, and Stevens, 2003)
Honestly though, just google “women brewing history”.
lol wow thank you!!! i will spread this information in the world
also will use it to shut down Manly Beer Drinker of all sorts
THIS IS USEFUL! I SHALL BE TAKING THIS INTO MY LOCAL MICROBREWERY AND BEING OBNOXIOUSLY FEMINIST. I LOVE YOU FOR THIS SO MUCH!
Fun fact: men (specifically, monks) started adding hops to beer. Hops makes beer taste bitter - the tast men today insist is the “true” tast of beer which makes it a masculine drink. The fun part of it is that hops is a phytoestrogen which is (according to some sources - there are disproving articles so I won’t say it’s absolutely true) responsible for low sex drive, lower energy, man boobs, and abdominal fat. Actually, monks started using hops in beer in order to lower libido of men in the monastery.
“Women’s role in the history of beer is often forgotten,” says Sofie Vanrafelghem,
author and master beer sommelier. “One of the very first written
documents to refer to beer,” she says, “was an ode written 3,800 years
ago to the Sumerian goddess Ninkasi, whose priestesses brewed beer in
her honour.”
This data’s been on my radar for a while now. I remember being in one of our favorite places in Dublin, Porterhouse Central, and spotting a sign hanging up above one of the aisles that said BEERS BREWED BY MEN, NOT MACHINES. A nice enough sentiment, but unfortunately / unnecessarily gendered.
I was in a bit of a mischievous mood and said to the barman, “No women?” “Nope,” he said.
I said, “You should really get at least one woman brewer in here. For historical reasons if nothing else. Didn’t you know that until a couple of centuries ago it was illegal for men to brew in Dublin?”
He was kind of stunned. True, though. It was traditional in the city from Viking times that only women should brew. In fact there was a sense that it was unlucky for men to brew, that the beer would fail, that it didn’t like them.
My bartender was a little bemused by this. “But why would that be?”
I just kind of laughed. “Women,” I said. “Yeast. We have a relationship.”
I wish I could describe the series of expressions that went across his face. :)
Immigrants are applying to become naturalized U.S. citizens at unprecedented rates, the New York Times reports, largely in response to Donald Trump. The pace of applications is gathering speed weekly: There could be as many as a million by the end of 2016—about 200,000 more than the average.
Just remember: even if you can’t slay dragons and shoot fireballs from your hands, you can step over small objects in your path, and that makes you more badass than a lot of video game characters.
