What I will say is that what I have learned for myself is that I don’t have to be anybody else; and that myself is good enough; and that when I am being true to that self, then I can avail myself to extraordinary thingsYou have to allow for the impossible to be possible.

If ONE MORE PERSON says “What if they’d medicated Van Gogh!?” I think I’m permitted to set things on fire. If they’d medicated Van Gogh, he’d either have painted twice as much, or he’d have been happy and unproductive. And you know what? Starry Night wasn’t worth a terrible price in human misery. It’s neat. It wasn’t worth it.
Sometimes I wonder if being an artist makes me jaded to ART. Because it’s not magic and it’s not mystical, it’s just paint or pixels. And it can do amazing things! But you don’t owe humanity to be miserable just so you can move paint around in interesting shapes. Jesus. Art is not some kind of Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas bargain where you agree to be miserable so everybody can go “oh! Neat!” for 5 minutes.

YES THIS. to add to this, i have bipolar disorder and i was so scared of taking mood stabilisers, and i almost didn’t because i thought it would kill my creativity and passion for art. guess what?? IT DIDN’T.
yeah, once when i was 17 i was hypomanic and made a full foam iron man suit in a week. but that suit was shittily made and fell apart, and i spent the next two months not able to go to school or leave my bed because i wanted to die. it’s also hard to make good art when your hands are shaking because you haven’t slept or eaten anything, and you’re rushing everything because your mind won’t stop racing.
if anything, taking meds made my art soo much fucking better because i can actually take my time and focus now, and i can finish one project and move right on to the next because guess what, each thing doesn’t leave me drained and wanting to fucking die. you know who makes good art? an artist who is alive.
AND even if none of that had happened and my art had gotten super shitty and i’d lost my passion for that, i’d fucking rather live the rest of my life as a content and happy person who isn’t an artist than be a great artist and end up dying before i’m 25. fuck the idea that you have to suffer to be a good artist. fuck the idea that controlling your hypomanic symptoms kills your creativity. you’re the creative one, not your mental illness.
Easter is coming up! And it’s a terrible time for pet store bunnies!
Rabbits are marketed as “easy”, short-lived, starter pets, especially during the Easter holidays, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth! A healthy, well cared for bunny can live just as long as the average cat or dog- 10-12 years!
What’s more, they have more complex needs than a cat or a dog. Rabbits are prey animals and do not behave or show affection in the same way as predators like cats and dogs; they don’t deal well with being outside-only animals; they can get sad if they’re on their own and don’t receive enough attention; and if they’re bought as a male and female couple, they can start reproducing from as early as 5-6 months of age, and they can carry multiple litters at the same time!
They have a specialised diet (NOT carrots!), need a specialised living area (unless you want all your things to get chewed up!), and they need specialised vets! Caring for them costs as much as caring for a dog!
BUNNY SAFETY SIGNAL BOOST BECAUSE BUNNIES ARE IMPORTANT
Also, bunnies are super active. They shouldn’t be locked in a cage, all day every day and they need mental stimulation and play. Get your bunny toys. I diversified into using parrot toys with the clips and chains removed for my bunny to chew, roll around, and toss, because a lot of bunny toys focus on treats and my bunny already gets fresh veggies and herbs every day, as well as kibble and hay. Most bunny treats are high in sugar which can really mess up their digestion and cause serious health problems, so limiting the amount and types of fruit, flowers, and packaged treats they get is important.
