Thunbergia battiscombii is in the shrimp plant family Acanthaceae. This species goes by a few common names, including blue glory vine and blue clock vine, with plants in the genus Thunbergia being referred to as clock vines. This tropical perennial is native to tropical parts of Africa and grows as a vine over other foliage. From green hairy sepals emerge large blue flowers accented by a golden floral tube, which can bloom year round depending on the growing conditions. A moderately recent introduction to gardens compared to other clock vines, the blue clock vine does best in full sun with ample moisture, and does not tolerate frost or winter conditions.
