Privileged folk ridiculing safe spaces is so funny as if men don’t refuse to enter “girly” stores and have “man caves”, as if white people don’t avoid black neighbourhoods, as if straight people don’t ostracise gay people from their social circles, like who’s really the one with the safe spaces lol
that’s the thing about power dynamics. Your boss has no problem entering your work space randomly, while you can’t enter his office as freely. Same mechanic is happening here, only that when you refuse to let your boss (privileged people) enter your space (safe space), they feel offended because they think they’re entitled to entering your space all the time.
When my mom’s out in public, she sends me pictures of lesbians she sees.
Jesus I envy that relationship.
this is like the time when my mum took me bra shopping and the girl measuring me up was a lesbian and my mum said to me “i’ll go take a walk around the shop so you can talk to this nice young girl” and gave me a look as if to say “chat her up”.
My mum tries to push me towards cute possibly gay girls and then disappears. She did it in Primark once and I found her hiding behind a pile of knickers, watching me.
i love all of your moms
When I was 17 I was convinced I was in love with the check out girl at the grocery store 5 minutes away from our house, so my dad went to get milk and somehow found an appropriate point in the conversation while buying a half gallon of milk to give her my number. Three days later she called me and asked if I wanted to come over “to watch a movie” and long story short my dad got me laid thanks dad.
Bayard Rustin was an openly gay Black man who was Martin Luther King’s right hand man. He planned the Million Man March and was subject to scrutiny for his sexuality and deemed a “deviant” and “pervert”.
Bayard Rustin can be found in nearly every picture of MLK yet he has undoubtedly been erased from history. We have to fix that.
Well then, let’s bring that name back.
Bayard Rustin, openly gay, human rights activist, proud black man.
(the guy on the left in case you wondered)
Yeah he was literally the guy who was the head of planning the March on Washington.
If you want to learn more about him, there’s a great documentary on him called Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin
“When Candace Hill ran 100 meters last year in a record-breaking 10.98 seconds, the then 16-year-old high school junior officially became the fastest girl in the world. Now, she’s also the youngest track athlete to ever go pro, and she’s hoping to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team this year.
“I’m still in shock about that label,” Candace says in the March issue of Seventeen, on newsstands now. “The boys are too scared to run against me … They’ll take longer to get ready or ‘forget’ something in the locker room when they know I’ll be at practice with them.”
Imagine three brothers whose father just died. Nobody really liked him but he owned a lot of businesses all over town, which he split the ownership of between his three sons.
The first son gets the CEO position of a powerful corporation, including his own private jet
The second son gets the father’s shipping company and his yacht
The last son gets ownership of a small funeral home that isn’t doing very well
The first son becomes a total jerk who sleeps around and cheats on his wife constantly.
The second son adopts the culture of the sailors at the docks and develops an aggressive personality
The third son’s company is more of a reliability than an asset, but through hard work he makes it work. He’s not very comforting to the grieving costumers, but his prices are fair and he treats them with respect. He marries a wife who helps him run the funeral home. The place is a success, despite its dreariness.
