Medinilla succulenta is in the family Melastomataceae. Native to the forests of Indonesia, this is a rare species with semi-succulent leaves that grows either as an epiphyte or terrestrial shrub. This plant exhibits the interesting habit of producing flowers directly from the stem instead of from leaf axils or terminally, a process known as cauliflory. Cauliflory is found in other Medinilla species, such as M. rubrifolia, but it is not indicative of the majority of plants in this genus, making M. succulenta a very unique species!

#2: YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A WOMEN OR CIS TO BE FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS. Just like white people can and should advocate for racial equality, everyone can and should advocate for gender equality.
I give Amandla a TON of credit for having to not only grow up in public, but grow up as a non-binary POC in a white / sexist / cisnormative society! She is young and figuring herself and society out. They do get this big! They also tame relatively easily and are surprisingly docile animals. Its popular to swim with them in many beachy areas. As long as you’re not stupid and mean to them, your odds of being hurt by them are very low.
I had the opportunity to swim with a school of them on a sandbar once and I must say they are very aggreeable animals, though they do have the tendency to mob you if you have food, and they can be quite heavy. Still very pleasant animals.
