This is tragic, and we shouldn’t forget Khaled al-Asaad, the archaeologist killed by ISIS because he refused to reveal where valuable artefacts had been moved for safekeeping.
Khaled al-Asaad is now part of the history he gave up his life trying to protect, please, never forget about him.
ok look. look. i’ve been really patient, but there comes a time when a person’s limit has been reached and today is that day. why–WHY–why–why is the trend on tumblr now to edit gifs with a dark gray screen muting the colors and making me feel like i’m peering through 19th century industrial revolution london to see the little moving pictures??????????? “look, beryl, come over here–you can just make it out– the clones and the teen wolfs are doing something again!” “oh, maude, you’re just seeing things in the smog! now come back over here and help me sell these two dozen flowers to the gentleman in the top hat for a whole shilling!”
Like. I have seen the argument made that “it’s LGBT, asexuals aren’t included because the acronym doesn’t have an A!!” and… okay? The LGBT acronym wasn’t handed down by God or anything. People made it up. There are dozens of variations. I first heard it as GLBT, which I found ironic because it shows the relative order of representation. An organization I was in used GLBTQQIA. Yes, really. PFLAG stands for “Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays,” but they often have support for bisexual and trans kids. Same goes for GSAs. LGBT+ seems to be gaining popularity, since anything can be included under “+” without adding letters. The acronym isn’t absolute.
If you’re honestly trying to use the argument that “there’s no A in LGBT!!” then just be honest and say you hate asexuals.
