Do you guys miss me posting original stuff over here? Because like most of what I think and write about is fannish stuff, so it ends up on the fandom blog. Makes sense. My ‘real life’ is just boring as fuck. No one wants to hear about troubles I’m having with my son or how exasperating my husband’s job is or how fucking useless and bored I feel. I don’t even want to write about that honestly. But I feel like I’m neglecting you guys even when I have nothing to say. So I guess this is like an update.

Nothing is new. Life is the same. Still a struggle but getting by as best I can. Housewifing and mothering 24/7. Tons of fun. Surviving on coffee, vodka, and ice cream.

Just thinking that I kinda want to take the “Great” out of Great Britain. Kinda feels like bragging especially as we’re not that great any more.

We should crowdsource a new adjective. Personally I think Adequate Britain has a nice ring to it. The United Kingdom of Adequate Britain and Northern Ireland.

I think we should change it according to who’s in government. We’ve got Tories now, so at the moment it’s “The United Kingdom of What the Shit Britain and Northern Ireland.”

Or The United Kingdom of Our Prime Minster Fucked A Pig Britain and Northern Ireland.

There’s something intensely unhealthy going on when parents discourage age-appropriate independence. A 13 year old should probably be allowed to go see a film with their friends most of the time. A 16 year old should probably be allowed to drive/ride a bus/bike to a friend’s house most of the time. An 18 year old should probably be allowed to travel overnight with their friends most of the time. A 20+ year old should be allowed to come and go as they please, with some common-sense “Let’s talk this ‘move to Finland’ plan of your over before you follow through on it” exceptions.

Parents should want their children to enjoy going out and doing things on their own and with their friends. They should be delighted that their child wants to have a life of their own. A rich, fulfilling life outside the home and distinct from parents and family is important, and parents should want their child to have that.
