Pulse is also a predominantly black and Latinx club too which makes this hurt even more.

Don’t make this about race.

It wasn’t about race, it was about the fact that those people were members of the LGBT community, don’t bring race in to this.

It DOES include race especially since last night was latino night and he planned it out and traveled two hours on LATINO NIGHT to commit the mass shooting. the majority of the members were LGBT latinxs. he also became enraged at two men kissing in miami, which more than likely the couple was also latinx. it absolutely includes race shut the fuck up.

All beautiful people, and yet we heard nothing about it

A little context on what they were fleeing from:

Eritrea is one of the most repressive countries on earth, regularly referred to as Africa’s North Korea. Reporters Without Borders ranks it 179th among 179 countries when it comes to freedom of expression, lower than North Korea itself.

Barely anyone is allowed a mobile phone. You need a permit to host a dinner party. A permit to travel to an adjacent village. Writing down a song or poem on a piece of paper could see you jailed for producing anti-government propaganda.  Even reporters for state-run outlets live in constant fear of arrest. The UN, in a report last year, concluded the population is kept in “a permanent state of anxiety”.

Extra-judicial killings, torture, enforced disappearances and arbitrary arrest are commonplace. There are at least 10,000 political prisoners in jail to silence political dissent (x)

There is mandatory indefinite military conscription from ages 18 through to 55 (in a country where life expectancy is 61) where 1 in 20 of the population currently serve.  The regime keeps the state on a war footing so it can conscript citizens into a form of forced labour, spending more time building homes for officials and officers than defending the country. There is also systematic sexual abuse of women in the military and pregnancies are banned.

One soldier complained about lack of vacation time and was jailed for two years, where he got one meal a day and one shower a month. He said “Hell is better” than Eritrea (x). Prisoners are regularly and systematically beaten, bound and tortured.

It accounts for less than 0.1 per cent of its continent’s people, yet last year there were more Eritreans arriving in Europe than from any other nation apart from refugees escaping war-torn Syria. Every month about 5,000 people flee the repressive nation.

Nothing to see here, just a street corner in New Orleans…..

This is The Violin Monster and he’s really cool. You should all look him up on Facebook. He’s the most talented violinist I have ever met, and he’s super sweet and friendly. He also teaches violin to kids. His back story is he’s a 400+ year old werewolf from Galway, Ireland who plays violin to quell his hunger for human flesh. I forget the details of how he became a werewolf, but I think it had something to do with a deal he made with a witch.

Story time: so one day I actually had spending money, so for funsies I kept putting money in his jack-o-lantern (that’s what his tip bucket is) requesting Scotch-Irish folk songs, and he didn’t just play every song he PLAYED them like he was in a music battle with the Faery King. I was quite impressed. Later, I ran into him, mask-off, at Café Envie and I told him “That was really cool, but you still didn’t play my favorite song ‘The King of the Faeries,’ do you not know it?” and Violin Monster looked around and over his shoulder, and then leaned over me and said in a hushed tone: “Oh I know it, but it’s bad luck to play that song. They say if you play it three times the Faery King himself will appear. So I don’t play that song anymore.” And then he smiled and walked away.

I don’t think Zach is just one of those performers who never breaks character, I think he’s actually summoned faeries by accident with his amazing music.

I think he was on America’s Got Talent and when Simon asked what his name was, he kept saying Violin Monster (which added to Simon’s disdain). Anyway, if you look up Violin Monster on YouTube, you can find many videos, here’s one of him on the Boston waterfront: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x9ABd-UMZQ
