women who wear “boy clothes” are not seen as cool or hipster. women who do not adhere to society’s strict standards of femininity are assaulted ((instances of women being assaulted for looking ‘gay’ or “like a man”: [x, x, x, x,] )), ridiculed in popular culture (x, x, //literally just watch any show on comedy central for approx 2 seconds// also: list of usage of tomboy/butch lesbian as a trope in popular media: x, x, )), denied employment, considered unfriendly, and generally just treated like shit a lot of the time.
this fucking post is just another example of so-called female “privilege” in society and how we should all feel sorry for poor suffering males, fuck off
when hyperfeminine, thin, “attractive” straight women who conform to patriarchal beauty constraints in every other way put on one article of menswear or steal a loose-knitted cardigan from their boyfriend, its’ considered cute or quirky because its so ‘weird’ to see her in boys clothes, but shes still small and soft and super feminine and cute so its okay (phew~!)
women who wear exclusively menswear, cut their hair short and fail/refuse to conform to feminine beauty standards are not treated in this way at ALL; literally ask any gnc woman how many times shes been harassed in bars, on the street, in the workplace etc, just for looking the way she does. “cool” and “hipster” dont seem like the types of words going thru some asshole’s brain when theyre screaming homophobic slurs @ u out car windows idk just sayin
