AHEM

She posted a more detailed, edited version on her blog, too: http://the-orbit.net/almostdiamonds/2016/06/20/voting-green-principle/

I’ve said this everywhere but I really wish Greens would divert some of the resources they put into doomed presidential runs to local politics in heavily blue areas where Dems run unopposed (or may as well be). You have a lot of progressive people who’d love to vote for an alternative to what are often corrupt, machine Democrats, and would be less worried about the spoiler effect leading to someone they hate in office (especially since the Repubs in these races are usually pretty moderate). It would also give these politicians real experience so the Greens wouldn’t have to keep running shitty candidates for their national races, and make them into a real grassroots movement that not only might lead them to real power and influence, but also a better platform that actually reflects what these communities need.

This still wouldn’t prevent them from becoming corrupt, too, as the OP shows, because there’s no such thing as an incorruptible politician or party. And that’s not because politics is ~dirty~ but because people are human and imperfect.

Honestly, I think I’m kinda done with progressives who can’t recognize these things, who think there’s a “pure, free of sin” vote and care more about that kind of ritual purity than consequences.

Ideological👏purity👏is👏a👏luxury👏good👏

Also, please don’t forget that the Green Party has/had TERF/radfem bathroom-bill language in it, and Jill Stein kind of just dodged every question about how the language about “safe places for women” (which was clearly a TERF dog whistle) and their supposed support for trans folks would play out for real.

Aaaand don’t forget that Cath*y Br/ennan, most notorious minor-trans-person-doxxing TERF, is a Stein supporter and was interviewed about ‘trying to purify the Green Party’ platform, and she was very vocal about being deeply involved with the party and trying to get rad/fem or TERF policies as part of the party platform.

So Jill Stein is NOT a trans-friendly candidate. At all. For all people have been all about Bernie needing to disavow the “Bernie Bros,” Jill Stein happily takes TERF money and TERF support and has never to my knowledge disavowed them.

This while Hillary, in 2011, made it possible to change your gender marker on your passport with only a doctor letter. Quietly and without fanfare, she did this to protect trans ppl in states where it’s hard to change your marker on your DL.

Oh, and Stein’s also anti-vax. So.

Yeah I don’t vote for parties that don’t even attempt to run down-ballot.

I mean the greens also have some pretty anti-science beliefs (vaccines causing autism, anti-GMO etc) and Jill Stein (despite being a doctor) has said a few things that were pretty weird (including an implication that she thinks vaccines cause autism.)

Jill Stein might be more liberal than Hillary but there’s just as much that makes me uncomfortable about her as there is Hillary and it’s literally impossible to act like Jill Stein has the qualifications and experience necessary to be president, especially vs. Hillary.

Jill Stein is better than most of the green party but she still has issues and with Donald Trump being the alternative there’s no way I could give my vote to her. I’m not gonna toss America into a dumpster fire just to chase ideological purity… because I’m not an asshole who only cares about ideology, it turns out.

The decision on whether or not to stop a fascist from coming into power seems pretty obvious to me.

Holy Jesus please don’t vote for this woman
