QUICK election day checklist:

  • Do you know where to go to vote?
  • Do you have some means of getting there? If not, do you have someone you can contact for car-pooling or other potential solutions?
  • If you have conflicting obligations like school or work, have you informed them of your intention to vote and any details (time off, etc)?
  • Do you know what else might be on the ballot for your state and county (governors, local politicians, public questions, etc)? If not, consider doing some quick research over the questions and candidates (esp if you’re interested in third parties, local/state elections might be a productive way to lend your support)

Make sure to vote! If you’re a woman, poc, lgbtqia+, ill or disabled, middle class or lower, etc. then this election can potentially greatly effect you! You are part of this political system whether you involve yourself or not–don’t be passive at a time when your tax money, health, rights, education, public services, infrastructure, and more are on the line!

Making a plan increases the chances you’ll actually vote, over and above intending to do so.

I want to take a minute and thank anyone on this site who isn’t from America for putting up with our election and sharing posts that promote Hillary.  I know that y’all have your own countries to worry about and I really appreciate the fact that you’re spreading the word about the candidates, reminding people to vote, and not trying to get us to shut up.

THANK YOU SO MUCH HONESTLY!!

I’m going to echo @rinhkitty for a second.

This is a very scary moment in US history. We have so much riding on this election and while you say: It’s just the presidency, not like they can do anything, I would advise you, if you are too young to remember, of what happened when people elected an idiot called George Bush back in 2000. You know how close that race actually was?

You probably don’t. Most don’t. But I implore you to look. Every single vote counts and voting third party this year means nothing. Your candidate has no chance of winning and if you plan on writing in Bernie Sanders, I will forever disown you. This is not the time for protest votes and I will, again, remind you that there is no such thing as a “protest vote”. You don’t get to write in your candidate’s name along with a strongly worded essay on why they should be president.

“Oh but the two party system is flawed and rigged and blah”. Trust. I get it. I get it so much, but voting third party this year isn’t going to fix that. You know what fixes that? SOCIAL MOVEMENTS.

The whole world is looking to America over the next 48 hours to see how we are going to go forward. I can’t tell you how to vote, I won’t plug here how “great” Hillary Clinton is. Hell, I don’t necessarily like her either and wish I could have been voting for Bernie Sanders, but in reality, it isn’t down to the “lesser of two evils” it’s down to democracy versus fascism.

When you vote, I ask you to think about not only yourself, but those in minority groups, marginalized groups, and what sort of message we want to leave the next generations with.

NOW GET THE FUCK OUT THERE AND VOTE, DAMN IT.
