Celebrities react to the director of Last Tango in Paris admitting that the rape scene in the film was real. The actress, Maria Schneider was 19 and raped by a 48 year old Marlon Brando. Bertolucci, the director, said that he wanted to film Schneider’s reaction to the rape as a person, not an actress. The scene wasn’t in the script and Schneider wasn’t told that it was added in. She passed away in 2011. Bertolucci is still alive.

THIS OKAY

You want to get kids out of foster care and into good, loving homes? I’ve got a simple solution to your problem.

Did you know LGBT couples are more likely to adopt older, children of color and disable children than straight couples? LGBT couples tend to adopt ‘undesired’ children more (basically kids no one else wants.)

This is so important because I remember being in the system and being so scared that I would never be adopted or loved or whatever and seriously just fucking let them, take the fear out of finding a family

Exactly. I reblog this every time I see it. EVERY time.

yes, please let us

Some governments are pushing for adoption and refusing to increase funding for children’s aid societies that would go into foster/group care… but won’t let willing, capable couples adopt because they aren’t straight. How does that make any sense?

A timeline of the major events at Standing Rock so far:

Dec. 22, 2014

Dakota Access LLC submitted an application to the North Dakota Public Service Commission to build a 358-mile pipeline originating in the Bakken and Three Forks oil formations.

Feb. 17, 2015

The United States Army Corps of Engineers, a government body in charge of U.S. waterways, sent a letter to the Tribal Historic Preservation Office to consult interested tribes on the pipeline’s impact, in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act. THPO requested a full archaeological investigation, Mother Jones reported. THPO sent follow-up letters in ensuing months, which allegedly went unreturned.

March 25, 2015

The Public Service Commission, or PSC, considered the application complete and scheduled three public hearings during May and June 2015, according to local NBC affiliate KFYR.

Sept. 15, 2015

Soon after a follow-up letter from the Army Corps of Engineers, or USACE, arrived, THPO expressed concerns about “significant and unevaluated properties” in the construction site. THPO concluded that USACE attempted to bypass the Section 106 process.

Jan. 20, 2016

The PSC unanimously approved the project. Commissioner Randy Christmann recused himself since a share of the pipeline was willed to his wife.

April 29, 2016

Col. John Henderson of the USACE held a public hearing in Mobridge, North Dakota, so that Native tribe members could voice their concerns. Everyone who spoke at the meeting rejected the project.

July 25, 2016

USACE issued a permit 12, which finally approved the construction of the pipeline across roughly 200 sites in four different states. The following day, the Sioux tribe filed an emergency motion for a temporary restraining order to stop the destruction of sacred sites.

July 27, 2016

The Standing Rock Sioux tribe filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Washington, D.C., according to Earthjustice, a nonprofit law organization that represents the Standing Rock tribe. U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg handled the case.

Aug. 4, 2016

The tribe filed a preliminary injunction against USACE, because the pipeline was already under construction,

Aug. 10, 2016

First arrests of demonstrators in the vicinity of the construction were made.

Sept. 3, 2016

Democracy Now! camera crew filmed security guards working for DAPL attacking protesters. On Sept. 8, Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman received a criminal complaint and warrant for her arrest after the State’s Attorney Ladd R. Erickson presented charges against Goodman for “criminal trespass.”

Sept. 9, 2016

The federal district court denied the Tribe’s motion for a preliminary injunction. However, the Departments of Justice, Army and Interior announced they would halt any future permitting and would reconsider its past permits for the project. Energy Transfer Partners, however, continued the pipeline construction.

Oct. 17, 2016

A North Dakota judge rejected charges against Amy Goodman for her reporting.

Nov. 15, 2016

Energy Transfer Partners filed a lawsuit against USACE, claiming that the Corps has no right to “delay easement to pipeline construction.”

Nov. 25, 2016

USACE threatened DAPL protesters with possible arrests if they don’t evacuate their camps by Dec. 5.

Nov. 28, 2016

North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple issued an executive order for the expulsion of DAPL protesters “to safeguard against harsh winter conditions.”

“Hillary Clinton has been through the cleansing fire. Let’s all prepare ourselves to behold the phoenix that emerges.”

The Magnificent Martyrdom Of Hillary Clinton

Like an artist who dies at 27, we can now forever canonize the Administration That Could Have Been. Everything about the imaginary Hillary Administration will always be bright, shiny, and scented with pumpkin spice. Her administration sits, an unopened vintage toy on a shelf   — full of possibility and joy, the perfect future that never was.

The difference between a political martyrdom and an actual one is that she’s around to enjoy it. Hillary is off the leash. Can you imagine what a badass like HRC can accomplish when she has no presidency or campaign to tie her down?

She can champion the rights of women and children worldwide without being tied to the bureaucracy of the State Department or the objections of Congress. If she wants to go to Afghanistan and build 1,000 schools for girls, she could do that. If she wants to hobnob with Angela Merkel, raise funds for Syrian refugees, and personally negotiate corporate climate change plans, she can. Try and stop her.

She could never smile in public again. Or she can smile all the goddamn time.

She can call out injustices in our own country without having to consider the political ramifications. She could go to a Black Lives Matter rally, march at the very front, and shout, “Our government needs to do more!” at the top of her lungs.

She can take our politicians  —  of either party  —  to task, publicly and loudly. She doesn’t need their endorsements or their votes for anything. If Republicans are parroting Trump’s hateful anti-immigrant, or anti-LGBTQ, or anti-anything rhetoric, she can tweet: “What a total bunch of a-holes.” She doesn’t have to watch her language anymore. If Democrats try to jump on that bandwagon and claim that they are just “representing their district,” she can swat them down and rub their cowardly little noses in that dog shit while saying “BAD. NO.” At least metaphorically. I think.

She can tattoo “STRONGER” on her bicep. Or on her neck, for that matter.

She can get that motorcycle that she’s been eyeing for years. And no, not some namby pamby Harley Davidson road couch. Hillary rides a black Triumph.

She can ride that motorcycle right into the lobby of her building and just leave it there. Because who’s gonna stop her?

She can walk into the conference room, drop her motorcycle helmet on the table with a bang and say, “Alright folks, who are we gonna set right today?” and then crack her knuckles.

Hillary Clinton has been through the cleansing fire. Let’s all prepare ourselves to behold the phoenix that emerges.
She can accept any donation to the Clinton Foundation that she wants and put that money towards helping every Syrian refugee find a home in the United States.

She can be as loud and as shrill as she goddamn pleases.
