JetBlue is offering $99-$159 one way tickets out of all Florida airports they operate out of (MIA not included) destinations even in New York. If you live in South Florida or along the coast and are trying to evacuate via air take advantage of this. Other airlines are making their prices deliberately ridiculous just because they can in this moment of desperation.

Puerto Rico is about to face a blackout for SIX MONTHS due to Hurricane Irma

Guys, this is no fucking joke. I got family in Puerto Rico right now and this power outage means I might not be able to get in ANY contact with them for the next few months. That means no phones, no internet, no electric /at all/. I won’t even be able to check on them to see if they’re okay. Not to mention Puerto Rico is literally surrounded by water, rivers, lakes.

Seeing how there’s been major deadly floods in Houston, Nigeria, and South India, I’m almost sure we can expect flooding in Puerto Rico as well.

I’m worried for my family and my friends, not just for the natural disasters but the overall state of Puerto Rico economically as well. During this power outage a lot of people are gonna lose jobs, they’re gonna lose their homes, and I personally feel powerless as to how to help.

Please keep Puerto Rico in your minds and hearts and don’t forget to support them in any way possible in the near future.

This is my home, I’m using what power we have left to say parts of this post are incorrect and lack information.

Puerto Rico has suffered a lot when it comes to our electrical structures due to storms, vandalism and lack of government help. So while the chances are some parts of the country will not have power for months, officials report most- if not all of the country will be without power for 3 months while it will take 6 months to actually get everything in proper order.

That’s one, the second thing is that, while they’re saying their structures are fine, cellphone companies are highly encouraging we limit our use of internet due to the fact that if the servers where to break down there’s no proper saying of when they will be back up. So we would be left without power or form of communication because of Irma. It’s as serious as it sounds but it’s also worse. We get no help from the US. There are over 700 people in shelters right now because some houses are in high risk flooding zones and are predicted to be lost. People refuse to leave their homes to try and protect what little they have from the flooding (mostly precious objects but over all pets, since only the shelters closest to San Juan allow pets, so a lot of animals are left in the storm alone to die).

Its going to be painfully hard to get back from this. If you can, and know someone from Puerto Rico, send them a dollar or two, help us stand up again after this natural dissaster. But also, thank you for caring.

For all Floridians!!

Your job CANT threaten to fire you for calling out during a state of emergency. They are to follow regular attendance policies in place. Labor during a state of emergency is voluntary not mandatory!

i hate that people CONSTANTLY post the statistic “half of people with autism have an average or above average IQ!!”

ok but half of autistics have a below average IQ and they’re just as valid & cool as anyone else! shoutout to all of my friends with intellectual/developmental disabilities!!

This ^

Intellectually disabled autistic people matter and are valid people who deserve love and protection.

and freedom

By definition of average half of all people have iq’s below average and half above…

I SOMEHOW DIDN’T NOTICE THAT

do other countries have a groundhog day? do you all gather on February second and watch with bated breathe as a groundhog emerges from its hole? do you forecast the next six weeks of weather based on if the groundhog is frightened by its own shadow and returns to the hole?

is this some kind of thing American tumblr made up to prank us??

groundhog day is real the entire country watches a groundhog predict the weather

an entire country. bases its weather predictions on a glorified possum. like on whether that particular fancy possum is a coward or not. that’s a real american thing and australians get called weird for having weird slang words. what the fuck is going on over there

@epically-scottish-big-b literally didn’t know Groundhog Day was a thing until I mentioned how the term always confuses me.

His name is Punxsutawney Phil, by the way.

Once a year the eyes of the nation turn to this tiny hamlet in western Pennsylvania to watch a master at work. The master, Punxsutawney Phil, the world’s most famous weatherman. A Groundhog who as legend has it can predict the coming of an early spring…
