i’ve been working 3+ years in a job during which i’ve seen hundreds of women’s bodies in a medical context
lemme tell you a thing
women are fucking hairy, ok? i’ve seen women covered with hair from their ankles to their armpits. women with super visible pubic hair that approaches their bellybuttons, regardless of race/ethnicity. we have hair absolutely everywhere and our public image as women is totally devoid of this reality.
men really have no idea how hard women have to work to make ourselves hairless. it’s as unnatural for us as it is for them but this is something that doesn’t even cross their minds as they emerge from their caves looking like unwashed wookies not even aware of how much they’re just allowed to exist.
“Edith Windsor, the gay-rights activist whose landmark case led the Supreme Court to grant same-sex married couples federal recognition for the first time and rights to a host of federal benefits that until then only married heterosexuals had enjoyed, died on Tuesday in Manhattan. She was 88.
Four decades after the Stonewall Inn uprising fueled the fight for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights in America, Ms. Windsor, the widow of a woman with whom she had lived much of her life, became the lead plaintiff in what is widely regarded as the second most important Supreme Court ruling in the national battle over same-sex marriage rights.”

i think one of the biggest problems with tumblr is that it’s a blogging platform (personal) which people treat as a forum (public) and there is zero boundary between these two functions. as a result you get people readily and preparedly engaging in public debate with other people who are essentially talking to themselves.
it’s like sitting in your locked bedroom writing in your diary, only at any moment jeremy paxman can pop out and question you on international television
here’s the thing: trump is not mentally ill and his behavior isn’t indicative of mental illness–it’s indicative of white supremacy
so no there’s no point in pop psychologists diagnosing him for clickbait articles and for people to make snappy tweets and posts about his sanity
it’s not funny and it does nothing but reinforce the stigma around mental illness and perpetuate the belief that mentally ill people are inherently dangerous and abusive
ive said it once and i’ll say it again on many posts, the person who wrote the section on narcissistic personality disorder literally said to stop using the term “narcissist” or “mentally ill” for trump because he clearly doesnt have any sort of cluster-b personality disorder or mental illness:
“Allen Frances says he’s tired of “amateur diagnosticians” insisting that U.S. President Donald Trump has narcissistic personality disorder. And he should know. As the chair of the task force that wrote the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV, Frances literally helped write the definition of NPD.
“When people are bad, they should be labelled appropriately and denounced for their behaviours. We should not use mental illness to slur someone,” he said. “It’s a very strange society that thinks that it’s somehow worse to call Donald Trump mentally ill than to call him evil.” - Allen Frances, the writer of the DSM for NPD.
Asked why he felt the need to respond, Frances told As It Happens guest host Helen Mann: “I don’t think Donald Trump qualifies for a mental disorder.” ”
[Image description: a tweet by Allen Frances (@ AllenFrancesMD) reading “I wrote DSM criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Trump doesn’t meet them. He’s a terrible person & classic schmuck - not mentally ill.” The tweet is in response to a tweet by David Frum (@ davidfrum) reading “1) Trump, a textbook case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder, will believe the lies he tells, after he tells them samvak.tripod.com/journal75.html.” End description.]
