THIS IS SOME SERIOUSLY SCARY STUFF Y'ALL!!!

They are dangerously close to getting the 50 votes needed to pass this before the end of the month! And as the action alert email from Planned Parenthood pointed out, “What’s worse, if they manage to gather the votes we can expect them to vote early next week, long before the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) can estimate how many people would lose insurance under the bill. In short - they’re trying to sneak this through before the public has a chance to get outraged.”

So I don’t know about you, but I’m gonna make sure my Senator and just about everyone else I know hears my outrage loud and clear.

i don’t know if people outside of brazil are aware of this, but our country just decriminalized gay conversion therapy. basically, it is now 100% legal for therapists to treat homosexuality as a disease if they want to.

The lack of international coverage is OUTRAGEOUS!

This judicial decision, if not reverted, puts the lives of millions of LGBT+ minors in danger.

Brazil is an extremely religious country. Even now, when this kind of conversion therapy is still illegal, there are christian psychologists and therapists that go against said law and provide this kind of hurtful treatment to religious parents.

The legalisation of said treatments is a violation of the human rights of LGBT+ people in Brazil, especially minors.

I am scared, we are scared. And it’s scary how the rest of the world is ignoring what is going on, as if our lives and integrity meant nothing. There is simply a lack of coverage outside of the country, I couldn’t find a single source in english to redirect you to.

Legalising it might mean the legalisation of horrifying  and inhuman (and uneffective) treatment towards LGBT+ people, especially LGBT+ youth, and yet we can’t get enough coverage even from international non-governmental organizations that are focused on defending human rights.

Model Teddy Quinlivan came out this week as a transgender woman, saying the current political climate inspired her to be public about her gender identity.

Now 23, Teddy says she began her transition at age 16, but has been presenting as a cisgender woman in the fashion world for fear of hurting her career. But a growing number of transgender models have paved the way for inclusion and acceptance in the industry, and she felt the time was right.

The 23-year-old Massachusetts native, who also walked for the likes of Carolina Herrera and Diane Von Furstenberg this week, said she felt “a great sense of urgency” given a recent spate of anti-trans violence, as well as the various ways in which President Donald Trump’s administration has rolled back rights for transgender Americans.

“We made an amazing progression under the Obama administration, and since the new administration took office there’s been a kind of backlash,” she said. “There’s been violence against transgender people ― particularly transgender women of color ― since before I even knew what transgender was. I’m very fortunate to be in [a] position [that] I never really thought I would be. It’s really important to take advantage of a time like this.” […]

“I think one of the ways we can help people in the trans community is to give them a platform,” she told CNN. “The fashion industry dictates what’s in fashion, what’s cool, what’s acceptable. It’s not just about who’s walking fashion shows … it’s about who’s on every newsstand in the country.”
