Representation isn’t exclusively important for the people being represented!!!
White kids need to watch POC being heroes too!!! It shows them that people can save the day regardless of their race!!!
Boys need to watch girls being strong and powerful!!!! It shows them that people deserve respect regardless of their gender!!!
Slim kids need to see confident and adored fat characters!!!! It shows them that everyone can be loved and love themselves regardless of their body types!!!!
Cishet kids need to watch queer kids falling in love (or just not falling in love!!!) and having happy endings!!! It shows that everyone is valid and everyone deserves to be happy regardless of sexuality or identity!!!!
Representation isn’t just for minorities, it’s important so that kids can learn that yes, they can be whoever they want to be and they deserve good things, but so do people who aren’t like them!!!!

I’m from Catalonia. It’s a region/state in Spain, from Europe. We’ve been wanting to independize from Spain for about 6 years now, and we were just about to have an independance referdum on October 1st.

Except Spain literally dismantled our government organism, the Generalitat. ILLEGALY. They screwed over all rules and protocols.

They suspended the Generalitat’s functioning, entered people’s houses and arrested them (14 people as of me writing this), confiscated their personal and social items, and so on, And they’re sending 8,000 militar soldiers to Catalonia. We’re on ‘exception’ status. Everybody is freaking out, Barcelona is collapsed with a rush of people manifestating right now (it’s literally impossible to try to enter) and nobody knows what to do or what is going to happen.

I repeat.

WE DO NOT HAVE A GOVERNMENT. THEY TOOK FROM US THE PUBLIC GOV ORGANISM THAT WE DEMOCRATLY VOTED FOR ON 2015.

I’m shaking as I’m writing this. I literally don’t know what will happen on the next hours. I’m actually scared.

I know this isn’t about the USA or South America or Asia or any other country that people on this site particulary care for. But please, boost this.

I want people to know of our situation. I want people to know that the Spain government took away all of our rights from us, catalonian people, when we have been just trying to do a pacific referendum and let the people vote.
