- me, kicking my mental illness in the face: YEAH maybe my life’s a fucking flaming dumpster fire and YEAH maybe it’s never going to get better and YEAH maybe it would be easier to just give up but FUCK OFF i still got things i want to see and things i want to experience and i’m a fucking FIGHTER and if living in a constant hell is the price i have to pay for the few bright spots in life then watch me fucking PERSIST asshole

Dear employers, I will have to take the day off today because:
☐ It’s December and the streets are papier-mached with wet bronze leaves and it’s so dark outside that the cars have their headlights on at 3pm
☐ I have recently been through a breakup, or I have been through a breakup at any time in my life really, and I woke up today with the absolute conviction that I will never be loved again
☐ A dog looked at me
☐ I got a text from someone for whom I feel a mix of concern and frustration and recognition and longing that is both more and less than romance
☐ Someone made a joke about dead pets meeting you in heaven
☐ Daylight savings time
☐ I passed a knot of flowers that were so bright they glowed through the dim grey water of the day and when was anything in my life last that luminous?
☐ Girls are too pretty
☐ For the first time I genuinely comprehend that there is not enough time to have all the lives I wanted
☐ I accidentally listened to Leonard Cohen
”heads up: as of right now, whip count for the graham-cassidy health care bill (trumpcare 3.0? i think it’s 3.0 honestly i’ve lost track) is split evenly at 50-50. susan collins (r-maine) is a no, and john mccain (r-arizona) is a no. at this point, trumpcare passes, because mike pence as vice president breaks the tie.
lisa murkowski (r-alaska) is one of the senators (along with collins and mccain) who sunk the bill last time. the current text of graham-cassidy states that alaska can keep all obamacare provisions. in other words, if murkowski votes yes on the bill, everybody but alaska loses obamacare. if she votes no, everybody including alaska keeps obamacare.
(rand paul is also saying he’s a no, but i trust him approx 0% because his rationale is that even graham-cassidy isn’t harsh enough so fuck him honestly)
also if you live in west virginia, you should call shelly moore-capito, and if you live in nevada, you should call dean heller (but like tell him he’s a bitch ass because it was him flipping from no to yes that made the last bill even get as far as it did).
a lot of people i’ve interacted with still think the whole chiquita death squads thing was only a rumor so I wanted to point out that they owned up to it and got fined.
https://www.justice.gov/archive/opa/pr/2007/March/07_nsd_161.html
so a corporation literally funded right wing terrorists to kill innocent people and only got fined. $25 million. chiquita has annual revenues of $3 billion. that should really have been a wake up call to anyone thinking corporations are treated unfairly, but it wasn’t. this is capitalism.
Pepsi is also directly responsible for the coup of Allende. Allende was actually supposed to win the 1963 election, but was unable to bc corporations like Pepsi poured millions into his opponent’s campaign. In return, his opponent promised to protect their investments. In 1970, when Allende finally won, the CEO of PepsiCo explicitly demanded President Nixon stage a coup against Allende bc as a socialist, he would threaten Pepsi’s and other foreign investments. As president, it was when he nationalized a private phone company & refused to compensate them that sealed his fate. Pressured by these corporations, Nixon eventually took action https://www.theguardian.com/business/1998/nov/08/observerbusiness.theobserver
We don’t talk about narrative trends like the “bury your gays” trope so we can get on Tumblr Dot Com and scream at every single content creator who writes a queer character who dies at some point in the course of the narrative.
This type of critique exists to
A.) Point out troubling TRENDS in representation, and especially (most of the time) to put those treads into a social and historical context so we can understand why they became common and what their implications are for queer people and our larger society.
B.) To critique specific instance in which this trope is still used and the ways in which it is unoriginal and damaging to how Queer people see ourselves and are seen by others.
It does not exist to denounce every piece of media that kills off a queer character.
None of the critical lenses through which we discuss representation of marginalized people exist to do that.
If that is what you are doing, you don’t understand how story telling works.
Btw I’m still homeless. Staying in a horribly ableist shelter with abusive staff and unable to work. Health has drastically deteriorated. Could really use some help with money just to survive this place.
Goddessrubystarr@gmail.com if you can send anything
The shelter doesn’t have wifi either so I can’t check in much (am in a cafe atm) but ty so so so much to all the people reblogging this and the 2 people who have donated so far <3 please keep going <3
