Sandy Hook was the Nightmare Scenario. It was the “that’s not realistic.” If I’d been arguing with someone who was anti gun control and I said “someone could take a gun and go into a school and kill thirty kindergartners in just a couple of minutes, how would you feel then,” they would have said I was exaggerating, that’s manipulative and unrealistic. 

but that’s what happened. 

and the thing is

if thirty dead, white, upper middle-class kindergartners in Connecticut aren’t going to motivate change on gun control

then they’re never going to change for queer people in Florida, and they’re not going to change for music fans in sin city, and they’re not going to change for college students in Washington and Oregon, and they’re not going to change and they’re not going to change. 

A white man can buy 19 automatic weapons and no one is going to raise an eyebrow. And then afterwards they’ll send thoughts and prayers.

  Due to clinical negligence my life has fallen to shambles. Im suffering from a condition called Topical Steroid withdrawal which is completely preventable. Topical Steroid withdrawal is caused by abuse of topical steroids like cortisone which was allowed to happen because of neglect of warning from medical doctors about the proper use of creams like these. 

  Many people like me are suffering in silence because dermatologists are trained to deny the existence of this condition. There are many Facebook groups and forums of fellow sufferers. (Please feel free to research)

  Even though I’m plagued with full body and other internal symptoms like adrenal fatigue and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, my family is still very dependent on me to pay bills and unfortunately we’ve fallen a bit behind. Due to my condition I’ve had to take time off of work which greatly diminished our household income. Proceeds would go toward catching up on our utilities and natural treatments to help treat my skin.

Almost 30 percent of transgender patients have been harassed in a medical setting, according to a report by the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Half of the patients polled said they had to educate their doctors about transgender health care.

“When you’re going through medical school,” said Lewis, “you get taught about all sorts of rare and very not-common diseases.” But, he added, “Very rarely are people given more than an hour lecture, if an hour, on transgender health.”

Lewis continued his outreach to transgender patients during the remainder of his medical fellowship. Now, five years later and with Lewis’s help, Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital opened the Transgender Center of Excellence, the first health clinic for transgender youth in St. Louis.
