There’s so little representation for women over like 35 (which is wild, because 35 is fucking young) and even less representation for LBT+ women over 35 (cause every piece of media has us dying at like 19 or some shit).

It makes it hard to envision existing as an adult. I am an adult and sometimes it’s still hard to envision. There’s this idea that our visible aesthetics and flagging and cultural signifiers are things only for young people, but it’s not true. 

Every time I see a woman who is super intentionally and visibly gender nonconforming (in ways that, in straight culture, are associated with teenagers) I get this surge of relief. 

bless butch professors with gray hair. bless queer punk librarians with pink hair. bless older femmes who wear neon eye shadow to their day job. bless the out nonbinary trans woman who moderated a panel at a college and then gave a speech at a leftist protest three days later 

media might try to push the idea that our identities are temporary– that we’ll die young or grow out of them– but it’s not true. We’re here, and we’ve always been here, and we kick ass our whole lives.

i’m a young jewish woman, and i deserve to be treated with basic fucking decency. i should be able to relax and enjoy my holiday, say shanah tovah and not have to deal with goyische bullshit.

for those of you who haven’t heard, this years cw superhero supercrossover fuckdome is entitled “crisis on earth x”. earth x is the earth of the CWSeed’s new animated show The Ray, where canonically jewish characters/jewish coded characters such as barry allen, ray palmer, and kara zor el along with multiple other superheroes are nazis. i’m not going to explain why this is gross because you have google right at your fingertips.

comic books are jewish american culture. that’s right, say it with me. COMIC BOOKS ARE JEWISH AMERICAN CULTURE. every classic comic superhero you love was created by jews and tells a jewish story. batman? jewish. superman? jewish. wonderwoman? jewish. every single one of them tells a jewish story.

by making these characters nazis, they turn our own creations against us. we contributed to society, but they’d rather see a world where we’re dead than one where they give us credit for everything we’ve contributed.

so here’s the deal: don’t watch the crossover live. don’t give them the ratings. if you’re really despesrate, but the seasons on amazon or something and watch it right after it airs. watch it illegally online. don’t give them the ratings, let them know that this isn’t ok.

yell on social media. tweet the dctv writers. be vocal about how ugly this is. do something this is so bad please protect ur local jews.

So so far we have this clusterfuck AND the “Arrow” writers (all white folks) wanting to do an episode about Black Lives Matter.

And the season hasn’t started yet. YIKES.

Are we surprised though? Arrow writers put Jewish Fe in a gas chamber and Marvel tried to make Captain “I hate nazis” America into a nazi.

Lately, comic writers have not treated minorities well at all. It’s like they don’t know that not all of their audience is made up of WASPs.

Also, and this couldn’t matter less, but OP mentioned Kara Zor-El being coded as Jewish, which I am having trouble understanding because she’s literally an alien.

I’m not saying that it’s wrong, simply that I missed the part where that happened. If someone could explain that to me, I would really appreciate it.

I’ve read much more about Superman’s Jewish links, but I’m 100% sure the same things that can be said for him can be said for Supergirl. Both are Jewish-coded characters. Like, yeah…both are aliens…that doesn’t mean they can’t be Jewish-coded, especially when their creation came about during a time when Jewish people were seen and treated as aliens, and were experiencing widespread diaspora.
