You have to read about these amazing, badass ladies. Fire eating became their symbol, here’s a blurb on its origin.

[It] grew out of tragedy. Last year, a lesbian and a gay man, Hattie Mae Cohens and Brian Mock, burned to death in Salem, Ore., after a Molotov cocktail was tossed into the apartment they shared. A month later, on Halloween, at a memorial to the victims in New York City, the Avengers (then newly organized) gave their response to the deaths. They ate fire, chanting, as they still do: “The fire will not consume us. We take it and make it our own.”

• It’s often assumed the Taino’s were “wiped out” they weren’t
• Taino/Arawak people are from Caribbean islands mainly (from my limited knowledge) Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Haiti.
• We as Indigenous people need to remember not to wash away the histories of other Nations not in North America
• Remember while we all have suffered since Columbus got lost, these people especially in Puerto Rico and Haiti still suffer from American Imperialism

We call on the government to recognise nonbinary people in law as distinct from men and women, in the form of a third gender option on passports and birth certificates, the ability to change one’s gender legally to a third option with a gender recognition certificate as trans men and women can, etc.

The best estimate we have is that around 0.4% of people are nonbinary (EHRC), over 250,000 people in the UK, comparable to the number of Buddhists in the UK - yet we are not counted in the UK census. We are not protected by the Equality Act unless someone thinks we’re trans, we are required to pretend to be men or women when getting married, companies are not required to provide toilets or changing rooms for us, when we’re in prison we share it with people whose genders differ from our own.
