I don’t remember where I saw the post, but someone once made a very good point about how reproductive autonomy is not tied to one’s genetic relationship to the fetus.
If I, a woman, donate eggs for another woman, who then has them fertilized by her partner’s sperm, I have no say in whether or not she chooses to terminate that pregnancy later on after implantation. Yes, I would be that child’s biological mother, but it isn’t my body that will go through the process of pregnancy, and therefore my input would be irrelevant.
So far no dude I told this to has been able to justify why they thought they, as the father, should have a say in what their hypothetically-pregnant partner chooses to do.
Nature did not distribute the reproductive burden equally between men and women and our legislation on reproductive issues needs to take this into account.

After Leelah Alcorn’s suicide, Oakland-based comedian Red Durkin started the hashtag #RealLiveTransAdult (top image above) to show transgender people afraid of coming out that there is hope and an abundance of possibilities.
Hundreds went online to share their stories (above). This is no longer news, but these tweets are so powerful and the message so important, I’ll share them anyway.
My absolute favourite cat ever. This is a manul, or pallas cat. Found in the Afghan mountains, they’re one of the oldest pure-blood cousins of our own goggies.
This has me really, really angry. So I voiced that anger by calling the chief magistrate in Charlottesville. The chief magistrate is the one responsible for issuing warrants in that district.
The phone was very busy, but eventually I got through. I also sent a letter, which is a great idea if you can’t get through.
Ms. Cheryl A. Thompson Sixteenth Judicial District 309 East Water Street Charlottesville, VA 22902-5108 (434) 977-0220
Please call or write (or both) ESPECIALLY if you’re from the area. Let your elected officials know that if they support white supremacists, we won’t support them.
Thank you to @justonepurpose to telling me about this update…which is nuts.
This magistrate, again, is Ms. Cheryl Thompson. Her info is below. Call her office. Send her letters.

Also, given that this was a huge abuse of power…also email and call the governor. This is a flagrant abuse of power. Get her superiors involved.
Governor Terry McAuliffe Common Ground for Virginia P.O. Box 1475 Richmond, VA 23218
The problem isn’t that “the country is divided” the problem is the increasing acceptance of fascism as a legitimate political position. Framing it as a problem of division puts those who want to kill the poor, LGBT people, and poc on equal moral footing with those who would like not to die.
