Need help…

kamelothell:

Y’all…

I need help financially…. I got sick at my new job and was terminated despite giving them a doctor’s note that THEY ASKED FOR. I genuinely enjoyed the job for the most part, and unfortunately, it was with animals and the doctor couldn’t figure out what was wrong and I didn’t want to get any of them sick (cats specifically).

I have no money at all… like overdrafted bank account and other shit. There’s no food in the house, and my roommates just had a baby and have been struggling financially for months due to the husband quitting his job to try and start his own company… Literally, I don’t even know if rent is being paid… I just pay for the basement and use of the kitchen. I’ve applied for SNAP benefits, but haven’t heard back yet… Luckily I already have Medicaid, so my health issues I can at least keep monitoring… Also will be talking to a therapist about applying for disability for multiple reasons… something I have never wanted to do, but…seems to be something I need to do at this point in my life.

I would prefer to work for my money. I do commissioned artwork and you can find the information post on my art blog >>>here<<<

I NEED EVERYONE TO REGLOG THIS PLEASE! My girl, my best friend, Shantee Anaquod is very sick in Vancouver General Hospital right now. She has rare blood disease called aHUS (Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome) which is a chronic and genetic disease that causes uncontrolled activation in the body’s immune system leading to the formation of blood clots in small blood vessels throughout the body (thrombotic microangiopathy). TMA can lead to stroke, heart attack, kidney failure and premature death. AHUS is on the ultra-rare disease list, the highest, which entails a patient number of 20 patient per million people. Maybe a little of over 500 people have it in the US and around 100 in Canada

Shantee, she been hooked to machines the past month doing four hours of dialysis and three hours of plasma exchange for the past month. She only 23 years old. And what’s sick is there’s a life-saving drug called Soliris that could give her a chance to live out a normal life but in this sick world, the pharmaceutical companies find it appropriate to price this life-saving drug as the world’s highest priced drug on the market at $750,000 in Canada where Shantee lives – and that’s not semantics, it’s literally the world’s highest priced drug.

Her mom, Jennifer, being a single parent trying to raise a young son in her brother, Jonathan, who has his own condition called Behcet’s disease, trying to figure out ways to muster up enough support to find a way to pay for this.

And because of it’s price, the Canadian government, which is said to have universal health care, has refused to cover the drug due to a struggle with the drug’s producers, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, finding that they’re creating predatory tactics to get the insurance companies and healthcare systems to cover the cost while the reap the benefits of the profits. My girl Shantee, she’s a First Nation Canadian and her country, a country that has treated them like second-class citizens, won’t even pay for a coverage for a cost that they probably throw away in defense spending. On top of that, the drug that Alexion Pharmaceuticals was mostly publicly funded research done at the University of Toronto.

Also, if you could please donate to this GoFundMe link or one below to help out with mounting cost that are starting up, especially for these next four to six month, that’d be much appreciated.

Also, you can sign a petition to this link or one below, especially to my Canadian followers, to reach out to the Premier and Health Minister for aHUS advocacy. That’d be appreciated as well.

Information on Shantee’s condition or to reach out is on our Facebook page here, Help Shantee fight for Soliris @fightforshantee. Please also like and share the many post on Facebook as well. We need as much support as we can get.

If you feel the need to contact me or her mom, either hit me up in my asks or her mom on the Facebook page.

men have such profound cognitive dissonance when it comes to rape. like when I was young my dad didn’t want me hanging out with guys because knew “what teenage boys are like” and didn’t trust them with me, but he’s a conservative who thinks feminists are crazy because “not all men” are bad.

men will call women paranoid and resent us for treating men as if they might become dangerous, but if we do get hurt, they’ll turn around and blame us for being stupid and naive.

like, if I don’t go home with a guy because he might be dangerous, I’m sexist and unfairly generalizing men as violent. if I do go and something happens, it’s my fault putting myself in a dangerous position. men know that they are a danger to us, but they don’t want us to know—except their daughters.

A male colleague was making fun of the #metoo movement a few days ago, and many more (I’m one of 5 women in a department of 200 men) joined in. So I raised my voice and said I was glad women were speaking up about sexual harassment and assault and that I hoped that everyone who perpetuated this toxic behavior got taken down.

“Yeah but it’s a trend now, lots of them are just saying it for their 15 minutes of fame.” He then continued to say that he didn’t know anyone who had been harassed or any man who had done it.

I asked him if he had a daughter. He did. I asked him how old she was. She was was 17. I told him I’d bet my rent money that his daughter had experienced sexual harassment.

“That’s impossible.”

“Did you ask her?”

“No.”

“Well then, do it.”

The next day, he came in the office with five bouquets of flowers for all the women in our department, including me. He publicly apologized for making fun of sexual harassment and for making our lives harder by doing so. He said that he simply hadn’t known how widespread it was. Apparently, his daughter deals with it very regularly. She hadn’t told him because of the way he spoke about assault cases that were on the news. She thought he’d think less of her if she’d mention it. It was her idea that he should make a public announcement. He said he felt like a bad father.

I said: “You were. Same goes for everyone who laughed with you. Be better, now you know better. And educate other men that still think the same way you did yesterday. And next time someone tells you about an experience they have, don’t automatically assume that because you haven’t seen it, it’s not true. That kind of willful ignorance is why we still deal with this shit.”

He also offered to pay my rent as that was part of the bet, but I told him I’d rather have him put effort in being a person his daughter and wife could be proud of.

Chicago Police Shot and Killed Another Unarmed Black Teenager in The Back Then Stomped On Body and ‘High-Fived’

“Bitch-ass motherfucker, fucking shoot at us,” a Chicago police officer told the bloodied, dying body of Paul O’Neal, an 18-year-old black man who was, to be clear, unarmed when officers shot and killed him on July 28.

It’s not clear exactly what happened at the moment of the shooting — once again, it seems like the shooting police officers’ body cameras fell or malfunctioned. But thankfully Chicago just decided to release some of the footage, and it’s graphic. (WARNING: WATCH WITH CAUTION)
