what-even-is-thiss:

Here’s the thing. In the 1950s-70s my grandparents raised eight kids with no health insurance. And all eight of them got regular doctors check-ups, dentists visits every couple years, and proper medication throughout their childhoods.

And my grandparents weren’t well-off. They were two people without a college education living in small-town America that had to start a side business to make ends meet. Half the time everyone was living off of potatoes and milk. But they were still able to afford pretty good medical care for their kids without any insurance.

There’s more than one way to fix the healthcare problem in the United States. If every place was required to take every insurance and insurance was cheap, that’s a solution. If the government could negotiate with companies to subsidize medication and medical treatments so that you don’t even really need insurance, that’s a solution. Making every state set up a state-wide medical system, that’s a solution.

But whatever solution you personally prefer, remember. There was a time when a poor couple could afford to send eight kids to the doctor every year with no insurance. Don’t let anyone make you think that its always been this way.

Four times taller than the Niagara Falls, the majestic Kaieteur Falls in Guyana sits in the Amazon Forest. At a dizzying 741 feet, it is also known as the world’s largest single drop waterfall!

That looks like a lot more than one drop of water.

Hey quick question but why does it look like one of the Plagues

For people asking about the colour:

(1) time of day and lighting plus angle. This isn’t thé only red photo out there, but it’s certainly one of the most striking I’ve seen.

(2) the water flowing into it is very brown, there’s a lot of sediment in it. Conglomerate and sandstone is the mix I saw listed when I checked.

(3) the foam mixing in will make the brown colour lighter which can make it easier for us to pick out the red elements

(4) waterfall is haunted.

“At the base of Kaieteur the force of the falling water creates a weird phenomenon – constant hurricane. There are constant waves in the small pond, the air is full with fleeces of foam gyrating chaotically. The wind is pulling the visitors and it seems that the day is grey and stormy. But – as one leaves the base of falls – it turns out that the sun is shining and all trees stand calmly.”

Hope that helps for anyone looking through for the answer!

Am I the only one whose eyes went straight to the very large birds first?

This already looks like a portal to hell with demon raptors circling it and you’re telling me there’s also a PERMANENT HURRICANE down there??

This clickbait is literally SO funny because while I get they wanted it to look intimidating, that’s a fucking ringneck snake.

image

I guess it looks kind of scary if you dont know what it is. But the ringneck snake (called “southern ringneck” in Florida, where I live) is probably one of the most non-lethal and completely harmless snakes ever. They’re not venomous, are nocturnal, and also….

ONLY GROW TO BE THIS FUCKING BIG. They’re super tiny!!!! Adorable little things!!! They’re just babies. And I love them with my whole heart.

How can you look at this thing, full grown and harmless, and be like “that thing is gonna kill me”? U can’t. Is babie.
