If you can track down Schlenkerla Rauchbier, that’s a dark beer flavoured with beech by drying the malt over a low beech fire. It’s very good once you get a taste for it, though a guy in The Porter House in Dublin took a sniff of mine and declared “It’s like drinkin’ a pint o’ rashers!” It goes well with smoked meat and sausage, as you can imagine.
