  32. childishzombiejellyfish said: @ignatiusteto ahahhaa all good - hope my tone didn’t come off as “schooling” definitely not the intent (internet tone is hard). Tbh I find it really annoying in German, but that’s because of the gendering + the implicit heteronormative biases around if you say “friend” about someone of the opposite gender vs if you say “friend” of someone of the same gender (IM TANGENTING I’LL STOP NOW)

  38. ignatiusteto said: @childishzombiejellyfish no yeah!! i could have better said that, i meant just the translation and not queer context, but i thought the similarity was idk. “relevant” but not quite, brain just was like oh real world connection because I’m a german learner and i thought it was idk, can’t quite find words to explain it

  41. childishzombiejellyfish said: @ignatiusteto yeah, I’m German funnily enough and “boyfriend/girlfriend” is just the same word as “friend,” however it’s not a “codeword” like it is in its queer context, it’s just a word - a-stitch-in-time-and-space
  42. ignatiusteto said: pretty sure germans still do this bc their words for friend and like girl boyfriend are the same so context clues help but i might be wrong but
