The Electoral College is a system used in an older time when the population was no where near what it is now, so they came up with the Electoral College to even things out. So the voting could be a little more predictable for them & not leaving it in the actual hands of all the farmers, ranchers, working hands of U.S. It was good for the first 100 years but has far outlived its use in a modern society.
