E.g. It’s easier to learn English as a Spanish-speaker than as a Chinese speaker, because Spanish is more similar to English than it is Chinese. This is how people estimate how many hours a native insertlanguage-speaker would take to learn English. It varies depending on the first language.

But English is, in no way, a difficult language to learn. Seriously. Try learning Chinese, Arab, Hungarian, Euskera, etc which are actually considered the hardest.
