  42. snugges said: Okay, to people saying, “grew up near” or “my family lived near”, TBH, it always sounds like a falsely justified point of view. My Aunt Maria actually IS Roma from an East European Romany ‘Traveller’ family, who married a Brit. Soldier she met just after the end of WW2. She was born in Austria, & yes her family suffered under the Nazis. Here’s the dilemma for me, my Aunt always refers to herself as Roma/Romany, but has NO PROBLEM with calling her family GYPSIES! So…???
